Reason Is Relative

my first attempt at a cartoon, via stripcreator. this has been on my mind for a while, due to a story related to me by one of my friends. he happens to work for a small, family-owned business, and this basic conversation did actually arise between him and his supervisor this past February. now of course, with his being a member of the family that runs the business, he’s on tenuous waters when it comes to these types of situations. and the job market out here isn’t such that he could really afford to flip his middle finger and walk away even if family wasn’t involved. regardless of the underlying realities, though, i doubt he’s alone.

if you’ve experienced such unreasonableness in the workplace, feel free to share your experiences in the comments. i’ve been somewhat sheltered from this, having worked for myself for the past thirteen years. my boss is kind of a dork, though.

by the way, far better comics on the socio-religious climate are available at By the Book Comics. absolutely a must-read, in my opinion.

Thursday Lunchtime Bible Study group with the owner-CEO.
The email announcement of the resumption of the aforementioned group arrived about a month after I started work. I thought it was a joke. It wasn’t.
I lasted not quite two years at the company. One of my coworkers generously described the place as the island of misfit toys.

Oh, that’s great. That’s so cool!

Yeah I’ve been self-employed for many years too, but I can sympathize with those who have to deal with that crap on a daily basis.

BTW, thanks for plugging my blog!

I apologize for the most lamely worded comment I’ve ever left, besides this one, of course.

    That’s rad, dude.

They just don’t do your effort the justice it deserves.

The Author Profile: i write things. sometimes not too poorly, even. i photograph things. i don't capture them, but i render how the appeared to me, or perhaps how i might have seen them if i'd been looking in a different way. i don't believe in finalities, and new beginnings are old hat with me. i am not what i appear to be, or even what i think i am. i am, in a nutshell, a nut. eat me, or feed me to an elephant.
