Missionary Positions

I found this at Jesus’ General. I’d somehow managed to miss this, so in the off-chance that you’re roughly as out-of-touch as I am, be advised: We apparently withdrew the embedded reporters in favor of embedded missionaries.

God, protect us from your followers, indeed.

They appear to be doing good things over there. Humanitarian things, even. But under the umbrella of, and in the name of, a particular religious doctrine. Sanctioned, I might add, by our military, which represents our government, which should have nothing whatsoever to do with the enforcement of any particular religion.

Especially not when following on the heels (almost literally) of people carrying assault weapons. And especially not when staging their efforts out of military outposts.

The last scene was amusing to me. He’s thumbing through the Dahri-language bible backwards.

(Warning, the following video actually promotes this military-sanctioned missionary crap as a good thing)

Very, very disappointing to me, but no, not very surprising at all.

WhoIs

The Author Profile: i write things. sometimes not too poorly, even. i photograph things. i don't capture them, but i render how the appeared to me, or perhaps how i might have seen them if i'd been looking in a different way. i don't believe in finalities, and new beginnings are old hat with me. i am not what i appear to be, or even what i think i am. i am, in a nutshell, a nut. eat me, or feed me to an elephant.
