well, actually, it does indeed appear to be true. this was by no means the only study ever performed on the subject, after all.
i found this quote to be quite telling, though, because the funditards just don’t seem to get it:
The new analysis of data from a large federal survey found that more than half of youths became sexually active before marriage regardless of whether they had taken a “virginity pledge,” but that the percentage who took precautions against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases was 10 points lower for pledgers than for non-pledgers.
(emphasis mine)
Go fucking figure. And no, don’t pardon the pun.
Moving on, my favorite YouTube hero, Edward Current, has this new video up in satirical defense of funditards and funditardism. please watch it immediately, or be damned to eternal damnation. Unless you don’t believe in that sort of thing, of course….

Strictly speaking, abstinence does work. Abstinence-only education, on the other hand, fails miserably because too many kids can’t apply the lessons learned.

at the risk of belaboring the point, i’ll stand by my wording (although it was actually unintentional).
in general practice, abstinence itself doesn’t work. at least not for the offspring of funditards. due to an inherent incapability to abstain.
you see, abstinence relies upon the fundamental premise of self-control: a tenet conspicuously lacking in general funditardery.
and indeed, on that basis alone, abstinence education is a woefully misguided concept.

@ Commander:
I was just playing around by nitpicking about your wording (yes, I’ve been accused of having a weird sense of humor). Your post is right on. Expecting people with raging hormones to abstain from sex is ludicrous, especially considering the mixed signals they get. Their churches teach one thing, popular culture teaches something else, and their bodies are teaching them that popular culture is probably closer to the truth.
BTW, I like Ed Current too.
